What is your NEETfailure story? What mistakes did you make during your drop year?
What is your NEET failure story? What mistakes did you make during your drop year?
This is life story is about my brother.
Let's name him Rahul
BACKGROUND:- Rahul was diagnosed with malaria when he was 4 years old.
He was admitted in a hospital.( for 1 week)
He saw doctors for the first time, working so hard.(before this he didn't see doctors everyday, so, he was not inspired.)
This is where his journey begins!!!!
Rahul was in 3rd standard when his mother was admitted in hospital due to diabetes, and anxiety attack.(was admitted in iccu.)
He was visiting hospital regularly for at least 2 weeks.
There he was sitting outside the iccu ( early childers were not allowed inside the iccu.)
Sitting outside the ICCU ideally, he started observing the hospital, doctors, nurses, and other staff working together day and night.
But one night, around 11:30 or so….(were waiting for the doctor)
In hospital…
3-4 people enter the hospital, with a child bleeding severely.
Mother were crying, child was unconscious, father were screaming.
DOCTOR!! DOCTOR!!! save our child.
Ward boy comes with a stretcher. And immediately doctor orders to take him to OT.
Next day…
The child was fine, and his parents brought sweets and gift for the doctor, thanking him continuously.
This is where he noticed the dedication and commitment of doctors. He didn't know what made doctor’s so special. But he surely got to know their importance.
And with this he got his inspiration, role model.
He was not sure that he wanted to be a doctor.
Because didn't know how. Just a random career question which was useful when any relatives used to ask him.
"Bade hoke kay banoge?”
(What do you want to be when you grow up?)
Now coming to studies…………
He was mediocre in studies, till 5th standard.
But after 5th his class changed, and so his friends.
From here, he always used to play, Rome here and there, in short, was a naughty child, whose parents are called in school at least once a month.
And then comes class 10:-
He was worst in studies, but he studied for last 1 month.
And he managed to pass with or less than 70% or so.
Then comes the most important decisions of life.
Choosing a stream science, commerce,arts.
Each and every teacher told his parents that he should take commerce.
But this guy said :- I want to be a doctor!!!!
(After lots of struggle)
And so, his parents agreed.
He took admission in a coaching institute.
Started his class 11
He was doing good, but then as every child gets distracted in class 11, he also got distracted.
Somehow, passed class 11;Somehow passed 12,
Then comes aipmt 2012.
FAILED
Took a drop.
NEET 2013
FAILED
After this each and every person, the person who he didn't know also (read as relatives) started mocking him, said he can't do anything, said he is wasting time and money.
But one relative said:-
If you become the worlds best doctor also, I won't come to you for my treatment.
It's better to die than to be get treated from you.
( in humorous way, but the meaning was same)
This words hit him so bad, that he was not talking to anyone for 4 days.
But back in his mind he was preparing himself to prove that bloody unknown relative wrong.
On 5th day he got up and spoke to his parents,
And said
I will try once more, and if I fail this time, ill do whatever you say.
And thus, started his journey…
He used to study for 16 hours, never spoke much.
Just study,solve,practice,revise, repeat.
And then comes aipmt 2014.
He was confident, and very cool on that day.
He gave the exam.
Came back home.
His parents asked him, how was your exam?
He said only 1 sentence.
"I'll get in government college that too in Mumbai”
On result day.
Don't know the exact marks but his rank was something between 250–400.
Got into one of the best government college in Mumbai.
Btw, that relative was asking for free check-up after his admission.
And other people who said he was not having potential are respecting him like anything.
He will be doing his internship very soon. And will be giving NEET PG.
MISTAKES HE DID:-
- Did not study regularly
- Was not serious about studies
- Didn't have a good friend circle
- Was not regular for class
- Studied a day before exam
- Studied just to pass a particular exam.
- Was not hard working
- Didn't make proper timetable and wasted time deciding what to study.
Becoming a doctor is a very long journey, it needs patience, dedication, hard work.
Don't get distracted, don't listen to you haters.
Hater's gonna hate.
